What does the Work Experience Service include?

EBP-SW prides itself in providing a service which helps schools, colleges and businesses, work together to achieve meaningful and safe work experience for young people in education.  With years of qualified and professional experience EBP-SW will deliver a flexible service to meet the needs of the school/college and the employer providing the following:

  • An initial meeting to discuss your requirements.
  • Free best practice guidance designed by EBP-SW in association with schools and colleges to help customers deliver an outstanding work experience programme.
  • A comprehensive online work experience management tool that provides a time saving resource for schools to efficiently manage their work experience programme
  • An online work experience database of possible work experience opportunities across the South West for students and parents to search for their ideal experience.
  • Preparation and de-brief resources to support students before, during and after each placement.
  • A centrally co-ordinated service to reduce employers receiving repeat assessments from a number of different organisations.
  • Free annual work experience seminar which provides staff CPD.
  • Free training on EBP-SW work experience resources and processes from an experienced team.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualified staff to undertake duty of care checks on work placements.
  • Payment profile that meets the needs and service that the school/college requires

 

Ensuring your students are safe

Safeguarding students on work experience is our priority.  Our service delivers:

  • Support for employers to understand their practical and legal responsibilities in relation to safeguarding, including the issuing of documentation for their information and guidance.
  • Advice on DBS checks for solitary working student placements.
  • Identified concerns regarding work experience placement providers who are barred from working with young people.
  • Liaison with employers to record:
    • Tasks and arrangements for the work experience placement.
    • Confirmation of arrangements for insurance, health and safety, risk assessments, induction and supervision.
    • Personal protective equipment.
    • Identified significant risks.
  • EBP-SW will be there to support the whole process.
  • Staff will undertake a comprehensive investigation including follow-up and attendance at LADO meetings if appropriate.
  • Consultancy advice and guidance on legal, health & safety, and safeguarding matters is always available.
  • Opportunity to access a bespoke placement finding service.

 

What if a student has an accident or incident whilst on work experience?

  • EBP-SW will be there to support the whole process.
  • Staff will undertake a comprehensive investigation including follow-up and attendance at LADO meetings if appropriate.
  • Consultancy advice and guidance on legal, health & safety, and safeguarding matters is always available.
