Go4SET Challenge

At the Flybe Training Academy on 5th March, 75 Exeter based students gathered for the launch of this year's Go4SET (Go for Science, Engineering and Technology) Challenge.

Go4SET is run by the Engineering Development Trust and they brought together 14 teams of 12-14 year olds from seven schools with their local business mentors for them to choose their spring project.

Bridgwater Hosts The Very First Apprenticeships @ The Big Bang

Over 600 students flocked to the first ever 'Apprenticeships @ The Big Bang' event held at Bridgewater College on Thursday 27th February and made it a huge success.

The event, organised by Education Business Partnership -South West, kicked off this year’s National Apprenticeship Week and attracted 16 to 18 year olds from across the South West. The students were able to take part in a series of inspiring talks about exciting opportunities available in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), engage in a 'Mega Class' and explore an interactive exhibition space hosted by some of the region’s most dynamic companies.

The Big Bang Takes UWE by Storm

The very first ‘Super Sonic @ The Big Bang’, organised by Education Business Partnership - South West, at the University of the West of England (UWE) has been heralded a huge success despite hurricane force winds. Over 600 students braved 80 miles an hour gusts and flooding to attend the event on 12th February and listen to inspiring talks from high profile scientists about exciting opportunities in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). They also had the chance to engage in interactive workshops and network with a variety of cutting edge regional companies.

On 2nd August, Yvonne, Kathy and I visited Exeter City FC for the club's official 2010/11 photo call.  Before descending on the pitch to take part in the sponsor's photograph, we enjoyed a lunch in the Flybe suite, followed by viewing the club's official photograph from the stand. We then met Aaron Dawson, our newly signed player we are sponsoring for a quick chat and photograph.  Aaron has been playing football seriously since he was twelve and was a student at Exmouth Community College.

Kick for Children with Cancer 2010

As Football Manager for the UK's leading children's cancer charity, CLIC Sargent, this is a really exciting time for me. Not only has our annual schools event, Kick for children with Cancer, begun, but the World Cup is well underway.  Happy days!

Whilst England's World Cup tournament has got off to a slow start in South Africa with a 1-1 draw against a resolute USA, CLIC Sargent's own football event, Kick for Children with Cancer, has officially kicked off to a great start...
