Focus Five Award

Focus Five has been created by local employers to support young people develop and evidence their employability skills. It places an emphasis on activities outside the classroom encouraging young people to take responsibility for their own development and supports the aim of enterprise learning requiring ‘an environment where pupils are expected to take personal responsibility for their own actions’ (Ofsted).

During the project students will focus on five skills employers identified as the most important when moving into a work environemnt.  These are; communication, organisations, problem solving, customer service and team work.  Students will work alongside mentors from business during the project who will provide emntor support.

The work compiled by each student will be assessed before Focus Five can be awarded.  The award will enhance any student CV when they are looking for apply for further education and work.

Recent Focus Five Awards

In 2016 four schools in Torbay took part in the Focus Five awards.  The project was sponsored by Torbay Development Agency and its partner businesses.  Read all about their succeses here
